Title: Horava's Theory of Quantum Gravity for a Layman
Abstract: Image Scaling has been widely used in industry nowadays, including computer graphics. About 70 years ago, Lifshitz used a similar idea to space and time, in order to make a scalar field renormalizable in condensed matter physics.
I shall first give a basic introduction to this kind of scalings, and then show how to apply them to gravity, as done recently by Horava, the so-called Horava-Lifshitz theory of quantum gravity. I will explain in some detail its major challenges found so far, and show some very promising approaches to resolve these problems. Finally, I shall point out some future work along the lines.
