Design & Construction

Design and Construction of New Instrumentation and Equipment

This process is highly dependent on students and professors taking time to articulate what they want a new piece of equipment to do.

We need to understand how your experiment works and what measurements or actions performed. Please give us as much information about the requirements as possible. Think about all aspects; size, weight, type of input and output connections, power sources, expected value of inputs and outputs, etc.. We are glad to make suggestions to guide you. We analyze your information and provide a quote for parts and labor cost. It is helpful to have a maximum budgetary limit.

Requirements from the customer for New Instrumentation and Equipment:

  1. Draft plans - System diagram with specifications , size, weight, type of input and output connections, power sources, expected value of inputs and outputs, etc..
  2. Non-Physics Dept. customers shall be charged at a rate of $35 / hour for design time and prototyping and shall also generate a Non-Departmental Transfer Order (IDO), signed by the account holder. These forms may be obtained from Cindy Clark, our financial officer (940/369-5301).

Once again, in all cases the parts and material costs will be passed to the customer. Labor for Physics dept. customers is normally free.

Extra-Curricular work outside the University

Consultation is available for grade-level educational institutions for ideas for classroom demonstrations that will grab the attention of young minds and provoke their interest in Science and Physics. Please contact us for further details.
